Best ASX Dividend Stocks You Should Not Miss As 2022 Ends

Higher inflation and the uncertain economic situation have led investors to seek the best ASX dividend stocks that pay consistent dividend to its shareholders. It’s not only the dividend payout ratio that investors look for in dividend shares ASX charts but the company’s earnings stability and strong balance sheet as well. Investors also keep a keen eye on the business and industry outlook and ensure that the business’s revenue is growing and is expected to grow at a larger scale.

2022 had been rough for ASX stocks due to the high inflation rate and the Russia-Ukraine war. The turbulent economy has led investors to look for the best ASX dividend stocks to buy with consistent dividend payouts. Here we have compiled two ASX dividend stocks that you should not miss as the year ends.

BHP Group Ltd (ASX: BHP)

BHP Group Ltd (ASX: BHP) is one of the world’s largest iron ore producers and is also making an increasing impact on the copper industry.

BHP has a history of consistently delivering two dividends each year, both of which are fully franked, making it one of the Australian dividend stocks worthy of long-term investment. Additionally, the mining company has a dividend reinvestment plan (DRP).

If you’re looking for one of the best ASX dividend stocks to hold onto on the Australian Securities Exchange for the long run, BHP should be at the top of your list. BHP’s payouts in early 2022 were huge due to the rising price of iron ore and copper. There was a substantial dividend payment of $1.75 per share in 2022, bringing the total payout for the year to $3.25 per share. The dividend yield for the year 2022 was therefore increased to 12.16%. For FY22, a record dividend payout of US$36 billion has been calculated. A trailing yield of 10.1% is reflected in the current share price. Despite the improbability of this trend continuing indefinitely, Citi predicts a durable iron ore price in 2023, with prices perhaps revisiting US$150 per tonne.

Furthermore, according to Goldman Sachs, copper might reach all-time highs in 2023. If it happens, this might be another year of huge returns.

Its sales increased by 14% in 2022, from $57.26 billion the previous year to $65.41 billion. The increase in net income was spectacular, at 173%. The company’s NPAT in 2022 was $30.90bn, up from $11.30bn the year before.

BHP’s Australian dividend stocks currently trade at $46.42 and are up 10% YTD. The current market cap of the company is around 236.42 Billion AUD.

Macquarie Group Ltd (ASX: MQG)

For investors in Australia, the banking industry is a go-to stock pick, especially if they are pursuing long-term growth. Macquarie Group Ltd (ASX: MQG) is one of the best ASX dividends stocks and is often mentioned by investors as one of the most notable large banks.

Macquarie paid investors a fully franked dividend of $1.40 per share in July 2022, bringing the company’s yield to 3.49% at that time. On the other hand, this was a significant decrease compared to the previous year. A $3.35 final dividend was paid out to shareholders in FY21; however, it was only partly franked.

Morgans’ analysts have a favourable outlook for the business. This is primarily attributable to the high standard of Macquarie’s business operations and the company’s exposure to long-term structural growth sectors such as renewable energy and infrastructure.

In addition, Morgans has pointed out that Macquarie may “gain market share in Australian mortgages” and “benefit from recent market volatility via its trading operations.”

The advisor expects dividends of $7.07 per share in FY 2023 and $7.47 per share in FY 2024, both partially franked. Based on our stock market research, both yields are based on the current price of $174.23 for a Macquarie stock, equating to a 4.1 and 4.35% return.

Morgans recommends that investors add Macquarie’s top dividend stocks ASX to their portfolios and set a $215.00 price target on the Macquarie stock.
